Real Adventures. Real Impact.

Eco Adventures was founded on a simple idea — we have a responsibility to give back to the environment, the ocean and the community. What started as a plan to donate 10% of our profits quickly became something more. In reality, we’ve given much more, supporting organisations doing the hard work where it matters most.

Operate sustainably

The ocean is everything to us, so looking after it isn’t a feature — it’s the baseline. From how we fish to how we run our trips, we aim to tread lightly, respect the environment, and leave things better than we found them wherever we can.

Focus on real, positive change

We’re not here for big claims or empty promises. We focus on the changes we can genuinely make — the small, consistent actions that add up over time. It’s about doing what we can, properly, and improving as we go.

Share knowledge and connection

Time on the water is more than just a day out. We share what we know — about the species, the conditions, and the ecosystems we rely on — so guests leave with a deeper understanding of the ocean, and a stronger connection to it.

Give back where it counts

From day one, we committed to supporting the organisations doing the hard work protecting our oceans and communities. A portion of our profits goes back into these efforts — and over time, that commitment has grown into something much bigger than we first planned.

The Charities Your Charter Supports

LegaSea

We’ve partnered with LegaSea because they’re doing the hard work behind the scenes to protect New Zealand’s fisheries for future generations.

Their work isn’t always visible, but it’s vital — advocating for better fisheries management, rebuilding fish stocks, and making sure our oceans stay abundant for years to come.

Our support helps back that mission, contributing to the long-term health of the very waters we rely on every day.

Coastguard New Zealand

Supporting the coastguard isn’t something we talk about — it’s something we show up for. Our owner and skipper, Johnny, is an active crew member with the Mangawhai Coastguard unit, giving his time on and off the water. Over time, that’s meant countless volunteer hours dedicated to helping keep our local community safe at sea.

Always ready for callouts, long days, and being there when it matters — for boaties, families, and anyone who finds themselves in trouble offshore.

Westpac Rescue Helicopter

Every year, Fish & Dive Mangawhai generously organise the Mangawhai Kids Fishing Contest. An awesome local event that gets the kids out on the water during the school holiday break, and raises a whopping $8,000 for the local Mangawhai Activity Zone (MAZ). We were proud to donate a day of fishing and an offshore adventure charter as a prize to reward the sponsors of this event.

Big Buddy

We support Big Buddy because we’ve seen firsthand how important strong role models are — especially for young people growing up without that guidance.

Big Buddy connects boys with positive male mentors, building confidence, resilience, and a sense of belonging that can shape a lifetime. It’s a simple idea, but one that creates real, lasting change in the community.

Mangawhai MAZ Santa Parade

The Mangawhai MAZ Santa Parade is one of those moments that brings the whole community together — locals, families, and visitors all sharing in something simple and good. We’re proud to support it, helping keep a tradition alive that creates lasting memories, especially for the kids.
